TOUR DESCRIPTION

The Intrepid Museum celebrates the people and technological innovations that have shaped and continue to shape our world. It is an immersive and fun place where history and STEM are showcased through marvels such as the world’s first space shuttle; the world’s fastest commercial airliner; a nuclear-weapons-carrying submarine; and dozens of military aircraft, including a supersonic spy plane, all displayed in and around the historic landmark aircraft carrier, Intrepid.

Exhibits:
- Commissioned in 1943, Aircraft Carrier Intrepid survived five Kamikaze attacks and a torpedo strike during WWII. The aircraft carrier later served in the Cold War, Vietnam War and as a NASA recovery vessel.
- Our Space Shuttle Pavilion is home to Enterprise, NASA’s prototype orbiter that paved the way for the space shuttle program, with 17 dynamic exhibit zones featuring original artifacts, photographs, audio and films that immerse visitors in this historic era.
- As the only American nuclear missile submarine open to the public, Growler offers a firsthand look at life aboard a submarine and the once "top-secret" missile command center with available access as it was used during operations.
- Take in the wonder and magnitude of the record-breaking Concorde Alpha Delta G-BOAD, the only British Airways Concorde on display in the Northeast (additional fee required)
- Exploreum Hall - the fully interactive exhibit space in the Museum's hangar deck is designed especially for families and kids of all ages. Visitors can climb in an actual Bell 47 helicopter, navigate through an interactive submarine and steer the wings of an airplane.
